Grand Knight’s Message

Brothers,

A Happy New Year to all Brothers and their families. I hope everyone had a joyous and wonderful Christmas.

I have yet to receive any Fraternal Survey Forms.  It is very important that this form be filled out and returned to me so that I can gather the information and send it to Supreme by January 31.  Supreme requires each Brother to do his part in filling out this form.  With this form along with the audits, Supreme can determine the amount of dollars donated to Charity and hours of volunteered time.  The information gathered help keeps certain congressional committees from pulling the plug on all fraternal organization.  This is how the Knights of Columbus keep their tax exempt status.  Please take the time to fill this form out to the best of your ability.    Do not hesitate to give me a call (895-0993) if you are having trouble in figuring out how to fill the survey

As usual December was a busy month with many activities.  It started with the Adult Christmas Party.  Those that attended had a wonderful time.  Next was the Manger Lighting in Epping.  There was a larger crowd this year and Santa led the singing.  The following weekend the weather held us back in completing the lighting of the Church grounds.  December 11th was a busy day with the Business Meeting, Children’s Christmas Party and ending with the Raymond Parade and Lighting of the Manger.  The following weekend the food for the Christmas Baskets was picked up and the lighting of the church grounds was finished on Saturday.  The next day the baskets were delivered after the 8:00AM Mass.  And finally the Assembly Honor Guard was in attendance at the Midnight Mass.  A thank you goes out to those Brothers and families that were able to take time to participate and help out in any of the activities and events that took place.

Not much is going on for activities in January.  At this point in time the only event being planned is a Retreat that is to be held on January 28.  This will be our second Retreat the Council will hold.  Those interested in attending contact either Dave Biron 642-8970 or me 895-0993.   More Information will be given at the next Business meeting.

Things will be picking up in February with a Blood Drive, Adult Valentines Dance, Winter Fest, and Senior Dinner. Pleases help out with these upcoming programs.

Please fill out the 2005 Fraternal Survey.  I am enclosing another form with this news letter.

Let us all pray the Rosary as often as we can. The Power of Mary’s help cannot be denied. Please pray for our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI, World Peace, and all our military personnel around the world, our Parish Priest and Chaplain Fr. Mike Taylor, all our priests and all our Brother Knights.

SQUIRES NEWS

There was no dinner in December because the St. Joseph Adult Choir hosted their annual Christmas
Dinner/Show that night. A big Thank-You and job well done! to all the Squires and Genesis girls that
helped out. Saturday, January 14, after the 4:30 Mass, the Squires will be having their next dinner, which will feature a delicious pork roast menu.
The Squires did a tremendous job selling Christmas trees in December, having purchased 35 trees, and after donating 5 to Father Mike for the Church, sold all but one of the remaining 30.Congratulations!        Coming up, Rick is trying to organize an Ice Fishing trip at end of January or early February. On February 5th at noon at the Epping elementary school, a Father/Son basketball game will take place. Let Rick or Mike Cabral know if you wish to participate in either of these events. And a reminder to plan ahead for the weekend of Feb.25th and 26th when the 2nd annual St.Joseph Winterfest will be held
Also, a fundraiser is being planned to support the Boys' Orphanage.
An officer's meeting will be held on January 29th. Contact Mike Cabral 679-1184 for further information about these meetings.

A LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR

Six Reasons not to mess with Children.

1. A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".

The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".

2. A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl: replied, "They will in a minute."

3. A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."

4. The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, she's dead."

5. A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."

"Yes," the class said.

"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"

A little fellow shouted,

"Cause your feet ain't empty."

6. The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

"Take only ONE . God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples".
