Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
As hard as it is to believe, here we are closing out yet another calendar year. And another very busy year it has been for our council.
We held a retreat, hosted the annual Church winter fest, kids’ fishing derby, and Church picnic. The motorcycle blessing took place on a hot summer’s day as well as a chicken barbecue. We happily celebrated Labor Day weekend at Camp Fatima, then came home and put on a delicious steak and lobster dinner for our Parish. As the seasons turned to fall, we entertained our kids with a fun filled Halloween party.
The year climaxed with a frenzied, but joyful and festive Christmas season with lots of bright decorations strung up all around our Church grounds celebrating the birth of our Savoir. We took time out to deliver generous food baskets to the needy for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
And in between all these fun filled events, we also held Blood Drives, Tootsie Roll Drives and other fund raisers. Plus, we found some spare time to construct a new steak sub trailer, which we look forward to putting to good use in 2007.
As matter of due course, we also had a “changing of the guards” at mid year, as I became your new Grand Knight. One of my goals was to make the transition as smooth a possible and hopefully, we accomplished that.
My most important goal, one which I hope to attain in this new year, is for us to become better organized and our events planned well in advance so that we can work less hard and enjoy greater success. I believe we can accomplish this by being diligent about holding monthly project planning meetings and doing a better job of communicating to encourage more council wide participation.
As I did in my first G.K. message back in July, I am asking once again for input from all my Brother Knights as to how we can make our Council even better than we already are. Please take a few minutes and write down your thoughts to let me know what you like or dislike about the way we conduct our business. Perhaps you have new projects you wish to get involved with or know of new avenues for raising funds with the steak sub trailer. Please mail these to our post office box or bring them to me personally. I look forward to talking with you.
Events we have coming up include “un-decorating” the Church grounds, the Free-Throw basketball contest, annual retreat, seniors’ appreciation dinner, Winter fest, and Blood Drive. Please plan ahead and devote as much time as you can.
Please remember Clarence Desrosiers, Kevin Harrington and John Aquino in your prayers and also pray for a speedy recovery for Tona McCarthy who recently underwent hip surgery. Also, if you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes to fill out your fraternal survey. A copy is included again with this newsletter. Thank you very much to all who have given me your surveys.
In closing, I wish all a safe, healthy and spirit filled new year!
Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.
Vivat Jesus,
Dave Biron

COUNCIL NEWS
Congratulations to all of the team who put together the Christmas float for the Raymond parade which took FIRST PLACE!!
At our business meeting on December 10th, it was suggested we send a Thank You card to Norm Lesmarises for marching in the parade. Also a Get Well card needs to be mailed to Father Cecile Donahue who has been recovering from surgery. Our G.K. will take responsibility for these being mailed. A donation of $200.00 from one of our members was voted to be added to our Sunshine Fund. A Thank You from G.K.Dave Biron for supporting this important fund.
A very important reminder that Fraternal surveys are due now. Please send them as soon as you can.
There is a March for Life parade in Concord N.H. on January 13th. Speak to our Pro Life Chairman, Mark Hausmann if you are able to participate. Gil Burelle informed the Council of the scheduled Air Show at Pease Airport on August 18/19, 2007. An Officers' meeting is scheduled for Jan. 4th and a Project Planning meeting on Jan.18th. Both will start at 7:30P.M. following Thursday evening Rosary.
FOURTH DEGREE NEWS
We did not have our monthly meeting in December as it happened to fall on Christmas Eve.Thank you to all who participated in the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass.We had ten Knights in regalia and looked really sharp for a large turn out of Christmas worshippers. Hope everyone had a safe and joyful Christmas and New Years holiday.
Please let your Faithful Navigator know as soon as possible if you plan to take your Fourth Degree this year, so that all arrangements can be made well ahead of time.
God Bless,
Dave Hamilton,F.N.
A LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR
We Must Stop This Immediately!
Have you noticed that Stairs are getting steeper. Groceries are heavier. And,
everything is farther away . Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was
dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!
And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They
speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep
repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're
red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?
I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other
hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend
the other day and he has aged so much that he didn't even recognize me.
I got to thinking about the poor fellow while I was combing my hair this
morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own refection.........Well, REALLY
NOW- even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!
Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb
if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them.. All I can say
is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and
swerve in my rear view mirror.
Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they
suddenly start labeling size 16 shirts as 18 1/2 or 19? Do they think no one
notices that these things no longer fit around the waist, hips, thighs, and
chest?
The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank, but in reverse.
Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial?
HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think
they're fooling?
I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the
telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books
in such small type that no one could ever find a number in here!
All I can do is pass along this warning: We are under attack! Unless something
drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful
indignities.
