Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
We have closed out yet another calendar year and I welcome you to the New Year 2008. I wish all of you and your families a safe, healthy and prosperous year. May your Faith in our God and our Church continue to grow always stronger. Thank you one and all for all the hard work and your dedication over the past year to our council, and certainly to our Pastor, Father Mike. We have a truly wonderful and loving community at St. Joseph’s Church, which I am very proud to be a part. Let’s all continue to work together and be always at the ready to help out whenever called upon.
There are a good number of Brother Knights who participate in weekly Adoration and /or help out with the healing service at the monthly 24-hour Adoration. I would like to invite more of you to come and spend some time on a Friday and see if this is something which you would like to make a part of your lives in this New Year. Or perhaps you have been thinking about attending the weekly Rosary on Thursday evenings at 6:30PM.I believe that in this troubled and dangerous world, we need a lot of prayer and strong spirituality in order to overcome the huge daily challenges we are now facing.
This year will prove to be a very interesting one indeed as we go through the election process of a new President of these United States. Let‘s all pray continuously that God may guide us to make the best choice, so that we all may realize Peace on Earth in our lifetimes and that our children can live in a world always in Peace.
We have brought in several new members to our council this past year and will continue to grow during the upcoming year as well. It is important that we all do our best to welcome our new Brothers into the council and through continued involvement keep their interest and excitement growing ever stronger. These new Knights are the future of our council.
Upcoming events, which I hope you all can find some free time to participate in, include a First Degree ceremony on the 13th, the state winter quarterly meeting on January 20 in Suncook and the Knights of Columbus Free Throw contest on the 27th at the Epping Elementary School being chaired by Pedro Santiago. Also in February, a Blood Drive, the annual Winter-fest and Seniors’ Appreciation dinner.
Thank you all once again and please “Keep up the good work”!
Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.
Vivat Jesus,
Grand Knight Dave Biron

The proceeds from the sales were donated to Father Mike to help with home fuel assistance. Also, the boys helped once again to deliver the Christmas Food baskets on December 17th. Their next dinner, which is Italian, is Saturday, January 12 after the 4:00PM Mass.

Ron Metevier had proposed nominating Fr. Aggie for next years Granite Award but a recent rule change eliminates current State Officers and District Deputies from being nominated.
The Squires will be selling trees with the proceeds going to help those in need in our Parish. There is no Squires dinner in December but the Squires will help distribute the Christmas baskets.
The following motions were made and seconded; donate $50 to the Right to Life program, split the cost of a full page ad with the Assembly in the Granite Award Book, pay 1/3 the cost of Fr. Mike’s K. of C. jacket and to give the balance of $150 from the Evening of Giving fund raiser to Fr. Mike for the CCD program. The Council voted to pass all of these motions.
There is a planning meeting for events on the 3rd Thursday each month, please attend if you are running an event and don’t forget your service report afterward.

A LITTLE HUMOR
The Bathtub Test
During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director
how you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.
"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, and then we offer a teaspoon,
a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the
bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."
"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do
you want a bed near the window?"
