Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
The weather has finally turned the corner to sunny and warm days. With that, of course comes the normal clean up associated with a long, snowy winter. Father Mike asked for help from the Parish as well as our Council to clean up the Church grounds and the cemetery and what a turn out he got! The weather was perfect for working on April 19 and much work was certainly accomplished. I am very proud of our Councils’ efforts. Thank you all. A job well done!
I want also to thank John Ste.Marie and family, Tona McCarthy and all who helped put together our annual “Spring Fling” for a very enjoyable evening for the approximately 70 people who showed up for hamburgers and hot dogs on April 29th. A good time was had by all.
I have now delivered the checks from last year’s Tootsie Roll Drive. Separate checks of $1,250.00 each were presented to Mark Vallone, principal of Epping Elementary School and Dan LeGallo of the Raymond Elementary School.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the First Degree scheduled for the last Sunday of April due to a lack of candidates. I am working on a Friday or Saturday evening for a young man looking to join our ranks but who cannot make Sunday evening due to his work schedule.
We also had to postpone the first Tootsie Roll drive of this year due to a lack of time to properly plan and prepare for it. A new date will be announced.
This month’s business meeting is to be held in the day chapel and will likely be brief due to Mother’s Day. But we must meet for the purpose of nominations of Officers for the next fraternal year, as we will vote at the June meeting. We also have the annual pancake breakfast for all Mothers that morning and we are still in need of additional help.
Just a quick ”Heads-Up” that we have several important dates coming up this month: On Tuesday evening the 13th, at 7:00PM we celebrate the Crowning of Mary with the live Rosary and Monday morning the 26th at 9:00AM at the cemetery is the Memorial Day Mass. We need Knights in Regalia for both events.
Saturday, May 17th, is the kids’ fishing derby and the following weekend is the Camp Fatima work day.
And last, but certainly not least, let’s all pray for our Seminarian, Mr. Chris Martel who is to be ordained a Deacon on Saturday morning, May 31st in Manchester at the Cathedral.
Happy Mothers' Day to all of our Moms and please everyone have a safe and relaxing Memorial Day holiday!
Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.
Vivat Jesus,
Dave Biron

COUNCIL NEWS
Grand Knight Dave Biron reminded all that the May meeting day is very busy. It’s time to nominate Officers for the 2008-2009 Council year, it’s also Mother’s Day and the Annual Mother’s Day pancake breakfast will be held after the 8AM Mass. Because of this the Council meeting will be held in the Day Chapel. It’s also Pentecost Sunday. Spring cleanup will be held April 19th and help is needed. The Tootsie Roll drive is scheduled for April 25th & 26th and John Ste. Marie is looking for a couple of co-chairs to help organize this event. We are waiting to hear from the State Council on the new liability insurance. They are about half way to getting the $2500.00 minimum the Insurance company needs.
Fr. Mike said there is lots of clean up work to be done at the Church and Cemetery. Summer projects include a Memorial to the Unborn, painting the inside of the Church and one side of the outside too. An Eagle Scout project for a Blessed Virgin Statue Grotto is also planned. Fr. Mike also asked to consider having a Vocation Hour during Adoration.
A First Degree is scheduled for April 27th. The Spring Fling is Tuesday, April 29th at 6:00PM. Don’t forget to bring your families! The 2008 -2009 budget is being worked on. April 13th is World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We have 142 members. The Fishing Derby is schedule for May 17th.
Rick Cabral thanked all who attended the Squires Dinner and those who stepped in to run the April dinner. The Squires went bowling last month and they will visit the Pine Hill Boys home April 26th.
Mike Annis reported that besides the Fishing Derby May 17th, the Camp Fatima clean up will be on Memorial Day weekend, May 24th to 26th. John Ste. Marie presented a check for $320.00 from the Lenten Fish Bake dinners and $94.00 from the 2 Easter baskets John’s daughter Ambre made and raffled off Palm Sunday weekend.
Ron Metevier reported the permit is OK for the raffle that begins in May and 2 tickets are being sent to each member.
Leo reported Chris Martel will become a Deacon this year and he would like to hear from members of our Council.
Motions were made for $100.00 for the Spring Fling, $50.00 for the Pregnancy Care Center Walk, $100.00 for bonding the Council financial officers as well as $120.00 for each of 2 meal tickets for the State convention delegates. All motions were seconded and passed.
There is a planning meeting for events on the 3rd Thursday each month, please attend if you are running an event and don’t forget your service report afterward.

ON THE HUMOROUS SIDE
Bottle Of Red, Bottle Of White...
Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road. As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride. With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.
Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman. The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally.
'What in bag?' asked the old woman. Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, 'It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband.'
The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two. Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said, 'Good trade.'

A new SECOND DEGREE TEAM is being formed in our District 8 which includes Epping, Exeter, Hampton, Rochester and Dover councils. Our District Deputy Ron Metevier is busy planning and coordinating the creation of this team. He is looking for volunteers who are interested in joining and playing a part. Please give this some serious thought. Having a second degree team in our own district would be very big advantage for us advancing our new candidates on their journey to Knighthood. Contact Ron Metevier or myself for more information. ************************************************************************
