Grand Knight’s Message...
Brothers,
Here we are in the month of June. Another fraternal year is about to come to an end. Our Council has done many activities and programs over the past year. I am very pleased with what Council # 6850 has accomplished. I am looking forward to working with my Brothers for another year as Grand Knight.
May was a very busy month for our Council. We started with the annual “Lets Go Fishing Derby.” Although it was a wet and cold day, over 30 kids and their parents showed up fort he event. The next day we held our annual Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast. We had a great turnout for this event. Thank you to those brothers who helped with the breakfast. That same day we had our monthly Business Meeting. We only concentrated on opening nominations for officers. This had to be done so the names of the nominees could be placed in this newsletter. You will find the names of nominees for the Squire Circle, Council and Assembly further in this newsletter. The following weekend was the State Convention. The delegates and alternates along with their wives attended the event. Others also attended the event with a total of 16 from our Council. More information about convention will be at the next Business Meeting. A workday was held in Fatima on May 21. Over 30 people attended this workday from our Council. Those who attended the workday had a great time. We had 8 Brother Knights go through their 3rd Degree on May 22. Their names can be found further in this newsletter. Those that remembered attended a Social Dinner on May 25. Though there was literally a handful that showed up, they had a good time with Fr. Mike presence and enjoyed pizza and a torte for dessert.
Now with June upon us, we need to think about the Raymond Town Fair. We now have a new trailer that needs to be worked on in order to have it ready for the fair. Those that can help with renovations please contact Mike Annis 895-4713 to find out what you can do to help. At the state level, there is a three-day event with a tribute to our Holy Mother Mary. This is to take place June 3-5. The 3rd is to say the Rosary, the 4th is to have Reconciliation, and on the 5th there is a Mass in honor of Mary followed by a meal. Information about this event can be found further in this newsletter. It is also that time again for the Parish Picnic. More details will be given at the Business Meeting.
Let us all pray the Rosary as often as we can. The Power of Mary’s help cannot be denied. Please pray for our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI, World Peace, and all our military personnel around the world, our Parish Priest and Chaplain Fr. Mike Taylor, all our priests and all our Brother Knights.

A LITTLE BIT OF HUMOR
Elderly
While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4 year old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered,” The tooth fairy will never believe this!"
ON THE SERIOUS SIDE
Origin of this letter is unknown
Two men, both seriously
ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed
for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was
next to the room's only window.
The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their
homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had
been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would
pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside
the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his
world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the
world outside.
The window overlooked a park
with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed
their model boats.
Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of
the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window
described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room
would close his eyes and imagine he picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.
Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's
eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find
the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his
sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body
away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The
nurse was happy to make the
switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at
the real world outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.
It faced a blank wall. The
man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had
described such wonderful things outside this window.
The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, "Perhaps he just
wanted to encourage you."
Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own
situations.
Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.
If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't
buy.
"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."
