JUNE 2007

 Grand Knight’s Message

Brothers,

I want first of all, to apologize for the delay in the newsletter for May.  Because of this, we have decided to publish a combined issue for May & June.  Thank you for your patience.

Our prayers and condolences are with the family of Brother Clarence Desrosiers who passed away on Tuesday, May 22.  He had battled courageously for two years with illnesses.  His funeral Mass was celebrated by Father Mike on Friday afternoon.  Thank you to all who served Honor Guard. Burial followed afterward in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  God Bless Clarence.

Well, April was certainly a stormy month indeed!  A late arriving winter was stubborn in leaving.  After several snowstorms, we had flooding rains which knocked out electric power and disrupted communications for several days for many of us.  It also interfered with our plans for a First Degree ceremony and our annual “Spring Fling. Dinner”

We now have scheduled a First Degree for Sunday evening, June 10, which will be our last for this fraternal year.  We are still in need of one more candidate to meet our membership quota of seven new members.  Congratulations to John Nasser, Bob Faust, and Mike Cabral who we journeyed with on Thursday, May 24 to Hudson for their Second Degrees!

Our spring social will take place on Tuesday evening, June 12 and includes a celebration of our Councils’ thirtieth anniversary.  We will also recognize Brother Andrew Vallone for fifty years in the Knights of Columbus.  Certainly a special evening, please mark your calendars.

The last Sunday in June is our Church’s annual picnic.  As is the usual custom, we will be providing the hamburgers and hot dogs.  I will be teaming up with Mike Annis as co-chairs of the cooking chores.  We will be looking for many helping hands also to set up and clean up when the festivities are finished.

In recapping our recent activities, we had beautiful weather on Saturday, April 28 for the Children’s’ Fishing Derby and had excellent participation.  Thank you to Tim Acerno and Mike Annis who co-chaired this event for the tenth straight year, and to all who helped out.  Thanks also to the State Conservation, Epping and Raymond Police Associations and all the local businesses who made donations to help make the derby possible.

Thank you also to Mark Johnson and Jim Wooster (I think I spelled it correctly this time)for their cell phone fund raising efforts. The money raised will be donated to the retired religious.

Of course thanks to all who donated their unused cell phones!  A very good job done indeed.

The first weekend of May had us at the State Convention in Nashua.  I was very honored to bring back all the awards our Council earned through our hard work and dedication.

The next weekend was Mothers’ Day. A delicious breakfast was served in the Church Hall.  All the while our business meeting was going on in the back and nominations took place for officers for the next fraternal year.  Elections will be conducted at June’s Business Meeting.  Thank you to all who worked so hard to make Mom’s breakfast so very special.

Finally, we had Knights in Regalia for the Crowning of Mary on Tuesday evening May 29, with a joyful celebration of our Blessed Mother.  A very big thank you to Paul McManus, our State Church Director for loaning us the Rosary beads for the Live Rosary which took place outdoors, under beautiful weather conditions.

Coming up on Friday evening, June 8th, a group of us will be heading up to UNH in Durham for the Special Olympics.  Please contact Ron Metevier or Mike Annis for details if you wish to join the caravan.

In closing, I pray that you all will have a safe, healthy and fun filled summer!  Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.

Vivat Jesus,

Grand Knight Dave Biron

ON THE SERIOUS SIDE

ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT

In WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England , its people and peace.

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America.

If you would like to participate: Each evening at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States , our troops, our citizens, and for our nation.

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this along.

Someone said if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Thank You, and God Bless America

HUMOROUS SIDE PART 1

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been canceled due to a conflict.

Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to someone who doesn't care much about you.

Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.

Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not pass this way again," giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.

For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.

Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.

The Rector will preach his farewell message after which the choir will sing: "Break Forth Into Joy."

Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What Is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.

Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.
