Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
Well, May was a busy month. I want to thank all who help with the Mother's Day breakfast. I’m sure the ladies enjoyed the much deserved break.
Thanks to all who came to help at Fatima clean up. We had a good turn out, with about 25 people who made the work a lot easier and enjoyable and the time went quickly. We even had time to enjoy playing basketball.
The Crowning of Mary went well. Thanks to Paul McManus for supplying the Rosary for the Crowning of Mary.
Thanks to the Knights that were in Regalia for the Memorial Day Mass at the cemetery.
We brought four candidates to the Fourth Degree in North Conway on May 30th. What a great time we had. I would like to congratulate and welcome our four new Sir Knights; Mike St.Germaine, Mike Jennings, Adam Munguia and Gerry Gagnon.
If you would like to spend an hour or more with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we are in need of people to spend time with Him during the night, at all night Adoration. The sign up sheet is in the Narthex.
God Bless
Rick Cabral GK

ON THE HUMOROUS SIDE
Late one night, a burglar broke into a house he thought was
empty. He tiptoed through the living room but suddenly he froze in his tracks
when he heard a loud voice say: "Jesus is watching you!"
Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again. "Jesus is
watching you," the voice boomed again. The burglar stopped dead again. He was
frightened. Frantically, he looked all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a
bird cage and in the cage was a parrot. He asked the parrot:
"Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?" "Yes," said the parrot. The
burglar breathed a sigh of relief and asked the parrot: "What's your name?"
"Clarence," said the bird.
"That's a dumb name for a parrot," sneered the burglar. "What idiot named you
Clarence?" The parrot said, "The same idiot who named the Doberman Jesus."

Bishop Lori: Connecticut officials trying to limit church's
freedoms
By
Catholic News Service
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CNS) -- Saying its First Amendment rights are being violated,
the Diocese of Bridgeport is seeking a court order to stop state officials from
what it calls "an unconstitutional application of state lobbying laws" to church
activities.
Diocesan lawyers filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Hartford May 29th
asking that a decision by the Connecticut Office of State Ethics determining the
Bridgeport Diocese was subject to laws governing lobbying organizations be
overturned.
The decision stems from the diocese's involvement in organizing a March 11 rally
at the Connecticut Capitol in Hartford to oppose a bill that would have given
laypeople financial control of their parishes.
The church maintained that such a law would have been contrary to canon law.
"The lobbying law of Connecticut is being used to limit free speech, to limit
assembly, to limit freedom of religion," Bishop William E. Lori said in
announcing the lawsuit in a video posted on the diocesan Web site.
In a May 30th letter to Catholics across the diocese, Bishop Lori said that the
state's announcement came as a "shock" and that the church in Bridgeport had no
choice but to act to protect its constitutional rights.
