Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
Hard to believe, but here it is September, already. Is it just me, or did summer just fly right by? I guess maybe I am just getting old. At any rate, I hope everyone has enjoyed a terrific summer time.
Kicking off the month of September of course is Labor Day weekend and the annual Family Camporee at Camp Fatima. Hopefully, everyone planning to attend has filled out their packet of paperwork Let’s pray for beautiful weather and fond memories.
Backtracking to August for a moment, what an experience it was just to be at the Air Show which was held at the Pease Tradeport the weekend of August 18/19. It was quite exciting to see the different aircraft in action. Of course, our ambitious crew worked hard and had a fun time preparing and selling all those steak subs. I was happy to be a part of this worthwhile event.
I would like to call my Brothers’ attention to a need at St.Joseph’s Church. That need is for more support and participation in First Friday 24-hour Adoration. The need is especially great for overnight coverage from 11:00P.M. on Friday evening to 7:00A.M. on Saturday. Whenever the Body of Christ is exposed, we should have at least four people present at all times. Father Mike has worked hard to grow Spirituality in our Church, this a great opportunity to enjoy a rewarding experience. Let’s make this a regular gathering for our Council. All you need is to choose the time most convenient and then come spend some quiet time with the Lord. See the sign up sheet on the bulletin board at Church. There is also a Healing Service at 7:00P.M. in the evening.
Father Mike has asked for help in trimming trees and clearing debris on the Church grounds and also at the cemetery before the weather turns cold. We will need to shut the water pump off and drain the irrigation lines at the cemetery also. I hope to set up a date in early October.
This is looking a little ahead of course, but Christmas season is not that far off. I have asked Rick Cabral to chair a Church decorating committee to get the planning started, please let him know if you can join him. With proper planning and more workers, the less time it will take to accomplish the task. We have lots of decorations to put up. We also have a really fun time doing it. And speaking of projects, we have planning meetings scheduled the third Thursday each month, I will be asking those chairing events to attend a planning meeting for discussion of their project. If that time isn’t convenient, let me or Rick know and we can meet at another time. We will also travel to your house if that is easier. We are an active council and need to be well prepared in advance for our activities.
On Sunday evening, September 9th we will be holding a First Degree ceremony. Please try to come and show your support for our new candidates. And we need volunteers for the Blood Drive on Tuesday, the 4th at Church Hall. Please contact Joe Lessard or Ron Metevier to volunteer.
Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.
Vivat Jesus'

HUMOROUS TIMES
KIDS IN CHURCH
3-year-old Reese:
"Our Father,
Who does art in heaven,
Harold is His
name.
Amen."

A little boy
was overheard praying:
"Lord, if
you can't make me a better boy,
don't worry
about it. I'm having a real good time like I am."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One
particular four-year-old prayed,
"And forgive
us our trash baskets
as we
forgive those who put trash in our baskets."
A Sunday
school teacher asked her children as they were on the way to church service,
"And why is
it necessary to be quiet in church?"
One bright
little girl replied,
"Because people are
sleeping."
A mother was
preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The boys
began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother
saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would
say,
'Let my
brother have the first pancake, I can wait.' Kevin turned to his younger brother
and said,
"Ryan, you
be Jesus!"
A wife
invited some people to dinner.
At the
table, she turned to their six-year-old
daughter and
said, "Would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't
know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the
wife answered.
The daughter
bowed her head and said,
"Lord, why
on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"
