Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers,
I welcome you all to October, our transition month from warm, sunny days to cool fall weather leading up to the inevitable coming of winter. Let us all take time from our busy schedules to enjoy and thank God for the beauty of the foliage and sparkling, clear autumn days.
Speaking of busy, our October calendar gives us ample opportunities to pray, lend a hand to help our Church, celebrate, and enjoy one another's company. The 5th day of October is First Friday Adoration which is 24 hours, concluding with Mass on Saturday morning at 8:00AM. I ask my Brothers to try and take some time to come spend with our Lord, especially during the overnight hours between 11PM and 6:00AM.I really believe that you will find this to be a rewarding experience. There is a sign up sheet in the hall for anyone who would like to make this a regular monthly visit. For those of you with pets, Father Mike will have a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday morning, October 6 at 10:00AM, in Honor of St.Francis.
Sunday afternoon, on the seventh from 1-3:00PM, Father Mike will be offering a Rosary service for Respect Life and has invited all the Knights to participate. Also, if you have Regalia and wish to join in please be at Church around 12:30PM for Father's instructions. Then on the following Sunday, the 14th, the annual State Pilgrimage to Pepperell, Mass takes place. Details for this event are posted on the bulletin board in the Church hall.
This is a rallying call for as many that can make it to Church on Saturday, October 20th to help trim trees and clean up the grounds both at the Church and St.Joseph's cemetery, before the weather turns cold. Please bring rakes and gloves. We also have water lines that need to be turned off and blown out, so they don't freeze.
Two nights later, on Monday the 22nd at 6:00PM we will get together at the Church hall for a fall social. Tona McCarthy and helpers will be serving a Mexican feast, so come on by. This is a chance for us to relax and reward ourselves for our hard work. Should be a fun evening. Please let Tona, Rick Cabral or myself know if you plan to attend, so that we can get an approximate number of attendees to make sure we have enough food.
On Sunday, the 28th Father will be celebrating the annual Remembrance Mass for the deceased members of our Parish at the 10:30AM Mass. We will need Knights in Regalia. Later that afternoon the kids' Halloween party is scheduled in the hall from 1-3:00PM. Also, that weekend is our last Tootsie Roll Drive for this year. We did a real good job in August, so let's finish with a bang. Contact chairman John Ste.Marie if you are available to help.
We are working on having a First Degree for some interested new candidates and just a reminder that November 25 there is a Third Degree scheduled in Windham. That is a Sunday afternoon, we need to be there for 11:30. I need to get us scheduled as soon as possible. I am also looking for a Second Degree.
Last, I would ask that all who are available and would like to perform some fun work, please get with Rick Cabral, our Worthy Deputy Grand Knight who is chairing the Christmas outside decorating committee. Let’s get this planned out early, so that we can be prepared ahead of time.
Please pray for our Parish, Father Mike, all religious men and women, all our military personnel stationed around the world and for Peace on Earth in our lifetime.
Vivat Jesus,
Grand Knight Dave Biron

DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT
The Blood Drive had 54 pints of blood donated despite lots of competition from other blood drives in our immediate area during the summer.
HUMOROUS SIDE
LOT'S WIFE:
The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot 's wife looked back and turned
into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted,
"My Mommy looked back once, while she was driving," he announced triumphantly,
"and she turned into a telephone pole!"
GOOD SAMARITAN:
A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan.
She asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the
roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?"A thoughtful little girl
broke the hushed silence, "I think I'd throw up."
DID NOAH FISH?
A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing
when he was on the Ark ?"
"No," replied Johnny. "How could he, with just two worms."
MOSES AND THE RED SEA:
Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday
School.” Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on
a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt . When He got to the Red
Sea , He had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the
people walked across safely. Then, He radioed headquarters for reinforcements.
They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved."
"Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked.”
Well, no, Mom, but, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe
it!"
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD:
A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most
quoted passages in the Bible; Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn
the chapter. Little Rick was excited about the task -- but, he just couldn't
remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first
line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the
congregation, Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the
microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to
know."
BEING THANKFUL
A rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy, "So your mother says your prayers
for you each night? That's very commendable.
What does she say?" The little boy replied, "Thank God he's in bed!"
UNTIMELY ANSWERED PRAYER
During the minister's prayer, one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of
the back pews. Tommy's mother was horrified. She pinched him
into silence and, after church, asked, "Tommy, whatever made you do such a
thing?"
Tommy answered, soberly, "I asked God to teach me to whistle, and He just then
did!"
TIME TO PRAY
A pastor asked a little boy if he said his prayers every night. "Yes, sir," the
boy replied. "And, do you always say them in the morning, too?" the pastor
asked. "No sir," the boy replied. "I ain't scared in the daytime."
ALL MEN / ALL GIRLS?
When my daughter, Kelli, said her bedtime prayers, she would bless every family
member, every friend, and every animal (current and past).
For several weeks, after we had finished the nightly prayer, Kelli would say,
"And all girls." As this soon became part of her nightly routine, to include
this at the end, my curiosity got the best of me and I asked her,"Kelli, Why do
you always add the part about all girls?"
Her response, "Because we always finish our prayers by saying 'All Men'!"
SAY A PRAYER
Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his Grandmother' s
house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When
Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away. "Johnny! Please
wait until we say our prayer." said his mother.
"I don't have to," the boy replied."Of course, you do," his mother insisted. "We
say a prayer before eating, at our house."
"That's our house," Johnny explained. "But this is Grandma's house and she knows
how to cook!"
