OCTOBER 2009

Grand Knight’s Message

Brothers,

Hello, can you believe that fall’s here already, where did the summer go? Those of us who went to Camp Fatima for Labor Day weekend, had a great time. The weather was great!! We had over 50 parishioners from St. Joseph’s that came to Camp Fatima for that weekend. Everyone had a great time.

The blood drive went well, there was over 70 pints of blood donated. Thanks to all who gave blood and those who worked at the blood drive.

The 9-11 prayer service went well, we had even more people this year than last. Thanks to Ron Metevier and John Ste.Marie and all those who made that happen.

We had our steak and lobster dinner on September 26th, thanks to all who helped with that program. The Knight’s trailer was in Concord selling steak and cheese subs for the fish and game expo. That was a fun time and we sold over 100 subs. Thanks to Mike Annis and all who helped with that project.

The second Degree Team just had their 2nd official second degree. I think that they are the best second degree team in the state! We already have the best 1st degree team in the state. Great job guys!!!

Mark your calendars, on October 4th, we will be have our installation of officers.

On October 10th  the parish will be having it’s annual grounds clean-up. Please come and help get the church grounds ready for winter. You can call me if you have any questions. @ 679-1184.

There will be a 3rd Degree on Oct.25th in Keene, NH. Call me if you want to go. @ 679-1184. We have a first degree Oct. 1st at 7:00 pm. The Quarterly meeting in North Conway is on Oct. 18th, if you want to come call me @ 679-1184, we will be car pooling.

Many of the Squires also enjoyed Labor Day weekend at Camp Fatima, of course they are now back in school. Pray for a safe, healthy & productive school year!

Grand Knight Rick Cabral thanked Steve and John for helping at the Squires dinner. 60 to 70 people attended. Leo has a date set for a visit to the Boy's Home in Allenstown. The Squires are planning to attend a hockey game this winter at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Rick said the last Fraternal year was a great one. We got Star Council. In fact we earned Double Star Council, and were one of only 506 Councils to earn the Elite Double Star Council [there are more then 13,000 Councils in the US].  Fatima was one of the best years yet, the weather was perfect and Fr. Von, Fr. Mike and Fr. Aggie were there. Thanks to all who helped with the Chicken BBQ. There is an Admissions meeting September 17th for 2 potential candidates. Installation of Officers will be Sunday, October 4th at 2:00PM in the Church. Mass for the deceased members of our Parish will be Sunday, October 18th at 10:30AM. The Quarterly meeting is October 18th in North Conway. A third degree will held in Keene ,October 25th. There will be a First Degree October 1st.

Dave Biron spoke about The Year of the Priest and St. John Vianney, Patron Saint of Priests. There are many special Indulgences available from June 19, 2009 to June 19, 2010.

John Nasser said he’s ordering new membership cards and will be sending bills out in October. The Trustees approved paying the bills.

Ron Metevier said the Blood Drive September 2nd collected 74 good pints and the goal was 65. He thanked Bob Faust for helping organize that this time. Ron said we need to schedule workers who also donate because there are times there isn’t enough help as they are going through the registration process. Ron also said the Memorial Service on September 11th was great and thanked all who helped including Claire Gagnon for doing the ceremony program. It‘s a joint effort by the Assembly and Council and Ron feels it‘s time to form a committee to help run and plan the ceremony.

Dave Biron has State Ball Raffle tickets and needs help selling them in the Narthex after the Masses September 26th and 27th. They are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. John Ste. Marie thanked all who helped at the Chicken BBQ. The Steak & Lobster dinner is September 26th and John needs help for that, too. Tickets are $15.00 for Steak or Lobster and $25.00 for a combo meal. Bob Faust said help is set for the Epping Food Pantry November 21st. They told Bob they are pretty well set for September and October. The Council will use the $50.00 donated to buy goods.

Mark Hausmann reported a Right to Life committee has started and to watch for news about this committee. Also, see Mark if you want to help. The Right to Life march is in Washington  in January and the parish is looking for someone to Chair that. There are Right to Life marches in Concord and Washington.

Gerry Gagnon turned in $28.35 for aluminum cans. He also said if we save the tabs on our cans for the Exeter Dialysis program they will give their aluminum cans to us for our program to support of our Seminarian. Also, thanks to the present and former State Officers who attended. Regalia is needed for the 10:30AM Mass Sunday, October 18th.

Fr. Von said the 911 Memorial Ceremony went well, noted installation of Officers is October 4th, fall clean-up October 10th and deceased Parishioners Mass October 18th at 10:30AM. He’s also asking to change the Halloween party to an All Saints Party.

Mike Annis is requesting $800.00 for a Fish & Game Expo to sell Steak & Cheese subs at a booth September 26th. Ron Metevier made a motion to waive waiting to next month to vote on this due to the closeness of he event. 2nd and passed but we will vote on this in October again, Ron then made a motion to give the $800.00 to sell Steak & Cheese subs for a Fish & Game Expo at a booth September 26th which should come back to the Council.  Motion was 2nd and passed.

                                                            HUMOROUS SIDE

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.
