COUNCIL NEWS
Grand Knight Rick Cabral thanked all who helped at the Squires dinner. The Squires are planning to $500 to the parish for fuel assistance and $300 for the Thanksgiving turkeys. Rick also reported that the Quarterly meeting is Oct. 18th in North Conway and if anyone wants the meal it needs to be reserved in advance. Leave from Church about 10:00AM or earlier. There is a Third Degree in Hampstead October 25th and Oktoberfest and Thanksgiving baskets are coming up. The installation of Officers went well, thanks for the help cleaning up the grounds. Another cleanup will be scheduled as well as one at the Rectory.
Our new Seminarian is Randy Brady from Hudson, NH. He attends St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.
There is a Second Degree October 29th at our Council and we have 4 candidates. The State Ball is Nov. 7th at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua.
Dave Biron reported on the Canonization of Fr. Damien and passed out cards with a Prayer for Priests in keeping with the Year of the Priest that is being celebrated.
Ron Metevier said a jacket order will be placed after Christmas as well as additions to a jacket such s patches. Winter jackets cost about $80 plus and patches, etc. A letter was sent from Raymond about the Manger and Ron had to go to the Selectmen’s meeting for the first time to explain about setting up the Manger. We are all set with this. Ron noted Werner donated a District Deputy robe for the Second Degree team. Mike Annis reported the Hunter’s Expo in Concord made a net profit of $418, the Raymond Town Fair about $2000 and the Bike Blessing about $1000.
John Ste. Marie turned in 2 program reports, $311.28 from the Chicken BBQ and $342.22 from the Steak & Lobster dinner. John needs help on Oct. 17th for the Tootsie Roll drive and Oct. 25th with the Boiled Dinner for Oktoberfest. Also Mass for Deceased Council members is Oct. 18th and Deceased Parishioners is Nov. 1st. Regalia is needed for both.
Under unfinished business Ron Metevier motioned to raise the yearly dues to $25. Bob Faust motioned to change this to $20, discussed, seconded and passed. Ron withdrew the $25 motion. New motion to raise dues to $20 and assess the impact on the budget. Seconded & passed. The yearly dues are now $20. New business, Ron Metevier noted that the Second Degree team needed a new banner. These are costly so Nancy Metevier and her cousin Anna Meterijus made one for a lot less than the $160 cost for a new one. It was motioned, seconded and passed to donate $25 to Anna for all her hard work on this. Dave Hamilton motioned to donate $50 to the Second Degree team to help with expenses, this was seconded and passed. Mike Annis requested an advance of $200 for the Children’s All Saint’s party, this was seconded and passed. Mike also motioned to have the Council pay to clean the robes of the First Degree team and buy garment bags to store them in, this was seconded and passed.
Fr. Von said the installation of Officers went well, thanked all who helped at the fall clean-up. He mentioned the Deceased Knight Mass Oct 18th and Deceased Parishioners Mass Nov. 1st and would like Regalia for those Masses. He’s looking forward to the Christmas Lights again this year.
Paul Arsenault reported the balance at the end of Sept., 2009 is $5790.22, Committed Funds are $5193.47 leaving a Net balance of $596.75, which is why we need to do more fund raising projects.
Notify Dave Biron at 580-2729 about any projects so they can be put in the bulletin. There is a planning meeting every 3rd Wednesday after the evening Mass.
Just a friendly reminder: Beginning January 1st, our dues increases to $20.00 per year!!

John Ste.Marie, Faithful Navigator,
DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT
District Deputy Dave Hamilton thanked all who helped at the Installation of Officers and that those going to the Quarterly meeting Oct. 18th are leaving from the Church about 10:00AM
THE HUMOROUS SIDE
A guy joins a monastery and takes a vow of silence.
He's allowed to say two words every seven years. After the first seven years,
the elders bring him in and ask him for his two words. "Cold floors," he says.
They nod and send him away. Seven more years pass and they bring him in for his
two words. He clears his throat and says, "Bad food." They nod and send him
away. Seven more years pass and again they bring him in for his two words. "I
quit," he says.
"That's not surprising," the elders say. "you've done nothing but
complain since you got here."
Thanksgiving Prayer
This Thanksgiving let those of us who have much and those who
have little gather at the welcoming table of the Lord. At this blessed feast,
may rich and poor alike remember that we are called to serve one another and to
walk together in God's gracious world. With thankful hearts we praise our God
who like a loving parent denies us no good thing.
Today and every day, it pleases God for us to sit as brothers and sisters as we
share the bounty of the earth and the grace God has placed in each blessed soul.
For this we all give thanks and praise to our loving and gracious God.
